If only Donald Trump would have announced his plans to run for president just a little sooner, David Letterman may still be at the Late Show.
The heavily bearded former late night host came out of retirement on Friday (July 10) appearing as a special guest at a Steve Martin and Martin Short show in San Antonio, TX to let the world in on a little secret.
While he’s happy with his choice to stop doing the show, but (and it’s a big but) he wishes Trump would have come out a little earlier.

“I have no regrets. None. I was happy,” he told the crowd. “Then a couple days ago Donald Trump said he was running for president. I have made the biggest mistake of my life, ladies and gentlemen.”
