Omarosa Manigault, Donald Trump’s personal friend and a participant in the first season of “The Apprentice,” was interviewed by WPGC’s Joe Clair Morning Show Monday.

The 42-year-old Howard University grad talked mostly about Trump’s bid for the Republican nomination for president, but also spoke about her dissatisfaction with the Obama administration.

“We’ve had seven years of the current administration. Seven years. And that current administration made promises to us. They said that they were going to help African Americans economically, they said that they were going to improve educational systems in our communities, they said that they would help us improve jobs and the minimum wage. But it’s been seven years, and I don’t know about you, Joe, but I’ve been watching closely to see if those things improved and what would happen. What Donald is known for is being a good leader and knowing how to create jobs and knowing how to improve economic conditions. And those are the things that he’s going to do.”

Omarosa went on to say that “Black Lives Matter emerged three-and-a-half, three years ago, not under a white administration but under the current administration.”

“Black Lives Matter came about because black men were dying in the streets of America,” she said. “Black men were being shot and killed by a justice system that was not standing up for them. When all those children were dying in Chicago, and something could have been done, nothing was done. That’s why we took to the street with Black Lives Matter. I’ve marched with Black Lives Matter because my brother was murdered in the street. As dramatic and as embellishing as we want to be that did not happen under a Republican administration. Can we be real about that?”

“Let’s not get distracted as African Americans. There are people in Flint who have contaminated water. There are people in Chicago who are dying in the streets. There are people who need assistance in our communities. Let us not get distracted that Donald Trump can do anything about those issues. The people who can do something about those issues are in office right now, and we should be standing in front of those offices like the governor of Michigan, who allowed this contaminated water to happen, protesting him. We are being distracted by a big personality who can’t do anything right now to help our current situation.”

One of Trump’s priorities, if he were to make it to the White House, would be “the economic condition of African Americans in this country,” Omarosa says.
